Annie T. Jeffers Library to host DUI, alcohol safety program Sept. 22

The Annie T. Jeffers Library will host an educational program Sept. 22 focusing on the dangers of driving under the influence and the risks associated with combining alcohol and prescription medications.

The DUI and Alcohol Safety program will begin at 10 a.m. at the library, 110 W. Madison St. in Bolton.

Andre Nathaniel, a prevention specialist with Jackson State University, will lead the program and provide information aimed at helping participants better understand how alcohol can affect judgment, coordination and the ability to drive safely.

The presentation also will address the potential dangers of consuming alcohol while taking prescription medications. Mixing alcohol with certain medications can increase side effects and create potentially serious health and safety risks.

The program is designed to promote awareness and encourage residents to make informed, responsible decisions regarding alcohol use, medications and driving.

The event is open to community members interested in learning more about DUI prevention and alcohol safety.
