Community Invited to Free Alzheimer’s and Dementia Education Program in Bolton

Special to The Bolton News

The community is invited to attend a free educational program designed to help individuals and families better understand Alzheimer’s disease and dementia on Monday, November 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Annie Thompson Jeffers Library, 111 Madison St. in Bolton.
Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association Mississippi Chapter in partnership with the Jackson-Hinds Library System, Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia will provide valuable information about the disease, its effects and available resources for individuals and families affected by memory-related conditions.
Alzheimer’s disease is not a normal part of aging. It is a progressive brain disease that affects memory, thinking and behavior. The program will help participants better understand the impact of Alzheimer’s, recognize the differences between Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, and learn about the stages of the disease and associated risk factors.
The educational session also will cover current research, available treatments and approaches to managing some of the symptoms associated with Alzheimer’s, along with resources offered through the Alzheimer’s Association.
Whether caring for a loved one, concerned about changes in memory or simply interested in learning more, attendees will have an opportunity to gain practical knowledge and a better understanding of a disease that affects millions of families.
The program is free and open to the public. For additional information about Alzheimer’s education programs and resources, visit alz.org/CRF.
Community members are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease, dementia and the support available to those affected.
