Mayor and Aldermen: Recap and Recording of January 18 meeting
Bolton's Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m. at Bolton town hall, in the Clifton "Buddy" Henderson Municipal Building located at 202 Bolton Raymond Road. The public is invited to attend.
During the meeting of the Mayor and Aldermen on January 18, 2022, a number of issues were addressed. In attendance that evening were Mayor Lawrence Butler, Alderman-at-large William Woods, Ward 1 Alderman Douglas Beard, Ward 2 Alderwoman Helen Harris, Ward 3 Alderwoman Shirley Mason, Ward 4 Alderwoman Vera Powell, Chief of Police Michel Williams and Municipal Attorney James Anderson, Jr. The meeting was recorded and may be watched, below.
Issues addressed during the meeting included:
purchase of a new vehicle for Bolton Police Department;
sale of old vehicles;
status of repairs to a pump;
use of a significant portion of the space in the municipal building for a new daycare facility;
status of the audits of town records for 2018 through 2021;
past-due water accounts and water turn-offs due to nonpayment;
payment of expenses from the water account;
sales tax receipts;
the removal of a trailer.
A citizen who attended the meeting said she has noticed that a lot of money is being sent from Washington to towns like Bolton, and that some towns are using a portion of their funds for parks and other programs to benefit the citizens. She requested that the Board use part of the Federal funds the town will receive, for the benefit of Bolton's youth and senior citizens.
