One killed in Bolton shooting; suspect arrested

The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one person dead Wednesday afternoon in Bolton.

Deputies responded to a home in the 200 block of Bolton-Brownsville Road at approximately 1:45 p.m. Sept. 16, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Chaddrick Kentrell Brown, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said a suspect was detained a short distance from the scene. The suspect, identified as 46-year-old Donta Terveson Bell, is facing charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Jones said Brown and Bell knew each other.

Investigators recovered two handguns believed to be connected to the shooting. Multiple shell casings were also marked outside the home as investigators processed the scene.

The Bolton Police Department and Capitol Police assisted the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.

The case remains under investigation. No additional information has been released.
